Itinerary

Today's journey takes us to Bac Son Valley, nestled northwest of Lang Son province, approximately 160 km northeast of Hanoi. Bac Son Valley is renowned for its picturesque landscape, featuring rivers winding through golden rice fields that have inspired countless photographers to capture masterpiece images. Towering mountains, ranging from 500 to 1200 meters in height, further enhance the valley's allure, offering breathtaking vistas best appreciated from the summit.

Our route follows a bustling highway towards the China border, leading us straight to Bac Son Valley. Along the way, we'll make brief stops to stretch our legs and capture stunning photos. Upon reaching the valley, we'll veer onto a narrow, muddy road that winds its way to our destination. After hours of riding, we'll finally arrive at Tay's Homestay, where you'll have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the rich local culture and the daily life of ethnic minorities.

Summary:

Distance: 180 km

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Accommodation: Tay Ethnic Minority Homestay

On the second day, our journey leads us to the awe-inspiring Ban Gioc Waterfall, nestled in Cao Bang province along the Vietnam-China border. This natural wonder presents different facets of its beauty depending on the season. During the dry season (from October to May), it exudes a gentle, elegant charm, while in the rainy season, it boasts a majestic and intense appearance. Surrounding the waterfall are thousands of limestone monoliths, towering above paddy fields tended by the Nung, Tay, and Hmong ethnic groups. Nearby attractions such as Nguom Ngao Cave, Pac Bo, Lenin Stream, and Thang Hen Lake offer further enriching experiences.

The journey to Ban Gioc Waterfall presents challenges even for the most skilled riders. We'll embark on a long ride, ascending hills before traversing the legendary Highway 4, known for its historical significance during the Viet Minh era. Passing through Quang Uyen, we'll navigate numerous passes and tunnel roads before reaching Ban Gioc Waterfall, where we'll stop for lunch. Later, we'll return to Quang Uyen via a different route and spend the night there.

Summary:

Distance: 220 km

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Accommodation: Homestay

Departing from Cao Bang, our route takes us southwest for approximately 153 kilometers. As we descend through mountain passes, we'll be treated to breathtaking views of rural landscapes and hillsides adorned with apiaries, renowned as some of Vietnam's premier honey-producing areas. You'll have the option to choose between two routes, both offering relatively easy driving conditions. However, to ensure ample time for the included boat trip on the tour, we recommend taking the larger road. Opting for the smaller road may cause you to miss out on the unforgettable boat excursion to Ba Be Lake.

Nestled in Bac Kan province, Ba Be Lake is among the largest freshwater lakes in Vietnam and the world, celebrated as a national tourism gem. In the early morning, the lake exudes tranquility, enveloped in ethereal fog with birdsong and the gentle rustle of wind. As the sun rises, the verdant lake, framed by mountains and drifting clouds, presents a truly marvelous sight. Arriving at Ba Be Lake in the afternoon, we'll spend the night in a stilt house belonging to a Tay minority family, situated along the lake's tranquil shores.

Summary:

Distance: 153 km

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Accommodation: Stilt House

On the fourth and final day, our journey spans approximately five hours, covering a distance of 240 kilometers. Today's departure will be slightly earlier than previous days to ensure a timely return to Hanoi before rush hour. We'll ride back through the Red River Delta, passing through areas inhabited by the Hmong, Dao, Tay, and Nung ethnic minorities. Along the way, you'll encounter a mix of challenging tracks and scenic sealed roads as we conclude our memorable Vietnam motorcycle tour. It's time to bid farewell to your fellow riders, with hopes of reuniting for another adventurous trip in the future.
