After having breakfast with the locals, we will set off for Ha Giang. The area is incredibly unique and special, with its stunning scenery and the vibrant cultures of 22 different ethnic minorities. Our journey begins with a 70 km ride from the Bac Ha market to Xin Man. Xin Man, located on the border between Vietnam and China, is the most remote place in Ha Giang province, nestled among majestic mountains and wild forests. This untouched world is sure to captivate you at first sight.

Next, we will take the DT178 road to reach Hoang Su Phi, known for its breathtaking terraced fields. These golden terraces, often covered in clouds, are considered masterpieces of the locals' hard work, far more than just agricultural fields. We will have lunch at a beautiful restaurant in Hoang Su Phi. As we continue riding through Hoang Su Phi, we will be enchanted by the pristine beauty of the wild mountains and the authentic culture of local ethnic groups such as the Nung, Tay, H’mong, and Ha Nhi. Today, we will wake up early to test our driving skills on the narrow mountain roads leading to Dong Van. Although the ride is challenging, it offers an excellent opportunity to admire stunning natural scenery with rugged mountain passes and cliffs.

We'll head up Ma Pi Leng Pass, a masterpiece of nature, with its cloudy mountains and the picturesque Nho Que river winding in the distance. It's so beautiful that you'll want to capture the breathtaking views with your camera.

Continue riding on zigzag roads until we reach the Vuong Family Residence, located 14 km before Dong Van. Known as the King of the H’mong people in Dong Van, this mansion resembles a castle nestled in nature, protected by tall trees. The house, built entirely of wood and stone, features typical Chinese architecture.

Upon arriving in Dong Van Town, we'll explore the ancient streets and H’mong homes made of clay bricks and tile roofs, built centuries ago. We'll enjoy dinner and spend a relaxing night at a hotel in the town, concluding a fascinating day of sightseeing.

Distance: 160 km

It's a short ride, but it's packed with new experiences. The road to Bao Lac is bumpy and winding, so even though it's only a few dozen kilometers, it takes time. However, the slow pace allows us to fully appreciate the stunning landscape, which is some of the most beautiful in Vietnam.

We cross Ma Pi Leng Pass again to reach Meo Vac, which borders Dong Van District in Ha Giang and Bao Lam District in Cao Bang. Meo Vac is home to various ethnic groups, including the Tay, Kinh, Dzao, and H’mong. Isolated from modern life, they maintain a rural lifestyle and rich cultural traditions. The peaceful village scenes, images of ethnic women weaving cloth on their porches, and the friendly faces will leave a lasting impression.

After leaving Meo Vac, our motorbike team follows QL4B, crosses Ly Bon Bridge, turns left onto QL34, and continues straight until we arrive at Bao Lac town in the late afternoon. After checking in and showering, we will head to the town center for dinner. Finally, we'll return to the hotel to rest and recharge for the next part of the trip.

Distance: 80 km

Today, we will enjoy a beautiful motorbike ride to Cao Bang province. Located in a remote area of Northern Vietnam, Cao Bang is known for its stunning geo-cultural sites. The province is 90% covered by forests, ensuring fresh and clean air year-round. The area's incredible beauty comes from its majestic mountain peaks, limestone caves, vast rice fields, spectacular waterfalls, winding roads, and numerous small ethnic villages. For adventure enthusiasts like us, Cao Bang is an ideal destination not to be missed.

Although the road from Bao Lac to Cao Bang is generally easy, it has many blind curves. Therefore, you should be very careful and slow down. Along the way, our group can stop for lunch and take beautiful photos. After 8 hours on the road, we will end the 5th day of our trip at a comfortable hotel in Cao Bang town, where we can relax and get ready for the next exciting day.

Summary:

Distance: 130 km
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Leave town and head to Ma Phuc Pass. Located on the road between Cao Bang Town and Ban Gioc Waterfall, Ma Phuc Pass is one of the most beautiful passes in Vietnam. It features sharp curves and stunning natural scenery, making it a must-visit for adventurous travelers.

After Ma Phuc Pass, it's a short ride to Ban Gioc Waterfall, the largest waterfall in Vietnam. Positioned on the Vietnam-China border, Ban Gioc offers a breathtaking natural landscape with jade-green water cascading into a vast lake. The area remains relatively untouched by tourism, preserving its pristine beauty. If time permits, we can take bamboo rafts closer to the waterfall. The green moss-covered cliffs and rocks contrast beautifully with the clear water, creating an enchanting scene.

We will have a late lunch at a restaurant near Ban Gioc Waterfall. Afterwards, we'll take a different road back to Quang Uyen, a tranquil village inhabited by the Nung An people. Here, we'll stay overnight with a local family and learn about their daily lives.

Today, our motorbike team starts the day with a hearty breakfast before packing up and heading to Lang Son. This region is not only known for its breathtaking natural scenery but also for its bustling markets. There are numerous large and small markets offering a variety of items at low prices, making shopping a must-do when visiting Lang Son.

From Quang Uyen, we take QL3 through Phuc Hoa, then follow TL208 to Dong Khe town. We continue on Highway 4A to reach Dong Dang Town. About 10 km from the town, we make a short right turn, then a left to the Tan Thanh border gate, a major trading point between China and Vietnam. Here, you can find and buy many cute and affordable local products.

After a late lunch and some rest, we travel along QL1A to Lang Son city. The road is smooth, so the journey doesn’t take too long. Our team arrives in Lang Son in the afternoon and spends the night at a hotel in this beautiful city.
