Itinerary

We kick off our first day by departing from downtown Hanoi en route to Mai Chau, following a scenic route that leads us through captivating landscapes and cultural encounters. Setting out from the bustling streets of Hanoi, we navigate our way through various roads and highways, including Ton Duc Thang and Nguyen Trai Street, before joining Tran Phu/NH8 in Trung Van. Continuing on the Ho Chi Minh Trail/National Highway 21, we then veer onto Highway 12B, followed by a left turn onto NH12B, eventually reaching Highway 6. After approximately 30.1 kilometers, we make a left onto QL15 and then a right at the shop, proceeding to clear the route Vang Luong – Pha Ngan until we arrive at Mai Chau.

Our first stop is the stunning Mai Chau Valley, nestled amidst towering cliffs and surrounded by verdant rice paddies, lush forests, and nature reserves. This picturesque destination offers riders an exhilarating off-road loop trail and showcases breathtaking sights such as the Black River, limestone mountains, Ba Khan Lake, and Thung Khe Pass. Immerse yourself in the rich culture of the Muong ethnic minority group and receive a warm welcome from the local community. After a day of adventure and exploration, we conclude our first day's journey with a relaxing stay at a homestay in Mai Chau.

After breakfast, we embark on our journey by following the route through Na Pho and Highway 15 until we merge onto Highway 6 in Tong Dau. Continuing along Route 6, we eventually reach Highway 14 in Phieng Luong. From there, we traverse Highway 43 until we arrive at Phu Yen. Today's route poses a challenge, especially for novice bikers, as it comprises rocky, slippery, and muddy single tracks. However, it offers a unique opportunity to reconnect with nature and immerse ourselves in the enchanting beauty of Phu Yen, situated at an elevation of over 1000 meters. With its breathtaking landscape resembling a magnificent piece of artwork, Phu Yen boasts towering mountains, lush green forests, and picturesque valleys. As we descend, we are treated to vibrant rice fields and cornfields, adding to the charm of the surroundings.

Take the time to explore "General Vo Nguyen Giap," a historic forest located in Gia Phu Commune, bearing significant military history. The forest, named in honor of the revered national hero, serves as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by those who fought for the nation. Here, amidst the serene surroundings, you can listen to the soothing sounds of nature – the babbling streams, chirping birds, buzzing insects, and rustling leaves. As our second day draws to a close, we are left with unforgettable memories of our time in the mystical land of Phu Yen. We retire for the night at a comfortable hotel.

Today marks the longest leg of our journey, so we'll kick off bright and early at 7 a.m., setting off on the following route: Than Uyen – QL37 – QL32 – Ta Ya – QLL279. After fueling up with a hearty breakfast accompanied by coffee, we'll tackle a genuine off-road single track (weather permitting). Given the extensive distance of over 200 km, it's essential for our crew to stick together, as any delays could significantly prolong our journey.

In the afternoon, we'll be treated to one of Vietnam's most stunning landscapes: the rice-terraced fields of Mu Cang Chai. Renowned as a must-see destination in the Northern mountainous region, Mu Cang Chai beckons with its perilous roads, ancient vistas, and towering mountain ranges, all framed by the serene beauty of ethnic houses nestled amidst terraced fields.

By 4 p.m., we'll arrive back in Than Uyen, where we'll pay a visit to the awe-inspiring Khau Co site atop Khau Co Pass, a spectacle sure to leave you spellbound with its natural grandeur. Following this, we'll retreat to the hotel to unwind after a day filled with remarkable experiences.

Departing from Than Uyen, our journey continues towards the Binh Lu crossroads. En route, we'll have the opportunity to traverse one of the Northwest's four long, rugged, and majestic passes – O Quy Ho. This pass is a paradise for motorcyclists of all skill levels, offering dreamy off-road tracks and breathtaking vistas. The highlight of today's excursion is Silver Falls, cascading down the O Quy Ho Valley from a height of over 100 meters. Travelers can enjoy a leisurely picnic and even take a refreshing swim in the summer.

After lunch in Sapa, we'll explore Muong Hoa, a romantic valley renowned for its unspoiled natural beauty and cultural richness, which has long captivated tourists. Another must-visit attraction in Sapa is Fansipan, the highest mountain in Southeast Asia, soaring to 3,143 meters. Along the route to the peak, you'll encounter a plethora of rare plants and animals. To reach the summit, we'll board cable cars. Following this exhilarating adventure, we'll return to Sapa town for dinner and retire for the night at a hotel.

Proceed northeast on Xuan Vien towards Ngu Chi Son, then make a right turn onto Dien Bien Phu Street/National Road 4D. After traveling for 4 kilometers, merge onto National Highway 4A and Highway 70 towards Luc Yen. Before reaching our destination, take some time to explore Sau Chua Peak. From its summit, you'll be treated to panoramic views of the picturesque Lao Chai and Ta Van Valleys in the enchanting land of Sa Pa.

Luc Yen is renowned not only for its gem mining industry but also for the bustling Luc Yen Gem Market. With its abundant gemstone deposits, this area is known for producing various stones used in creating captivating paintings and works of art. In addition to marveling at the beauty of the gems, we'll immerse ourselves in the rich cultural traditions of the Tay people. With its wealth of historical and cultural landmarks and scenic spots, the Luc Yen tourist area exerts a magical allure on visitors. Afterward, return to the homestay for dinner and rest.

Today marks the shortest, most enjoyable, and relaxing leg of our tour. We'll embark on a brief off-road journey from Luc Yen to Vu Linh, promising plenty of fun along the way. Following breakfast, we'll set out from QL70 and traverse DT152 until we reach road 170. By noon, we'll arrive in Vu Linh, where a delightful lunch awaits. Indulge in local delicacies like rice fields, flower banana salad, fish salad, shrimp salad, and chicken cooked with sour bamboo shoots.

Following our meal, we'll venture to Thac Ba Lake, one of Vietnam's largest artificial lakes often likened to "Ha Long Bay on Land". The lake's pristine blue waters, adorned with reflections of the surrounding ancient forest, create a captivating scene. We'll spend the night at a Tay house overlooking Thac Ba Lake, enjoying the refreshing breeze.

For a smooth journey back to Hanoi, we'll opt for the tranquil road 2B, leaving behind the countryside's serene landscapes. Yet, we won't miss the opportunity to appreciate the peaceful and rustic beauty of the majestic Red River. As Vietnam's largest river, it originates in China's Yunnan Province, flowing 1,175km southeast through deep, narrow gorges before entering Vietnam and eventually emptying into the Gulf of Tonkin via a vast delta. Along its banks lie quaint villages, ancient temples, and expansive maize fields. The river symbolizes life's essence, embodying Vietnamese history and Hanoi's enduring prosperity.

By 4 p.m., we'll arrive back in Hanoi, marking the conclusion of our 7-day Motorbike Tour, brimming with emotions and excitement.
