Itinerary

On your first day, you'll embark on a motorbike journey from Hanoi to Mai Chau. Start your morning by checking into a hotel in Hanoi for some necessary preparations before setting off on the 170-kilometer trip to Mai Chau. Following Highway 6 offers the quickest route to your destination. As you traverse the paths on your motorcycle, you'll have the opportunity to marvel at the picturesque landscape of valleys adorned with lush green rice fields, perfect for capturing some stunning photographs.

Before reaching Mai Chau and crossing Thung Khe Pass, take a pause to visit the ancestral land of the Muong people. Upon arrival in Mai Chau, indulge in a leisurely lunch and some relaxation time. Afterwards, take a break from your motorcycle to stroll along the Ma River, immersing yourself in the countryside scenery and experiencing the village life of the White Thai ethnic group. As night descends, you'll arrive in a Thai town where you'll dine on local dishes prepared by your gracious host. Here, you'll also have the opportunity to savor the regional culture through musical performances.

Begin your day with a breakfast provided by your Thai host. After packing your belongings, you'll continue your journey to explore Son La. The 200-kilometer route takes you through local towns, offering a glimpse into the daily lives of the Hmong and Black Thai people. Along the way, stop at a local restaurant for lunch before arriving at one of the most picturesque spots in the area – the Moc Chau tea plantation. Here, you can unwind and enjoy the serene beauty of the rolling tea hills, with the scent of fresh tea leaves filling the air. Finally, you'll spend the night at a hotel in Son La.

Before embarking on the motorcycle journey, enjoy a hearty breakfast. The next destination on your itinerary is Muong Lay. You have three route options from Son La to Muong Lay. The first option is Highway 6, offering a relatively short and smooth ride. Alternatively, you can take DT107, though this route is less smooth. The last option is an off-road trail, ideal for those seeking a more challenging riding experience.

After covering the 200-kilometer stretch, take a break for lunch before continuing to Pha Din, known for its winding roads and sharp bends. In the evening, you will arrive at your main destination – Dien Bien Phu. This historic site is particularly exciting for history enthusiasts. Conclude the day by resting at a hotel.

Take time to have a meal and rest to recharge for the 150-kilometer journey to Lai Chau. Ride your motorbike along the Nam Na River, enjoying the natural beauty. Stop for short breaks in Dzao and H’mong towns along the way. You will arrive in Lai Chau in the early evening. Enjoy some local food and engage in interesting activities before spending the night at a hotel.

It would be a great pity to miss the chance to capture photos on the journey from Lai Chau to Sapa. The 100-kilometer distance offers numerous memorable moments as you traverse poetic streams, striking valleys, and towering mountains. Along the 25-mile route to Sapa, you will pass through Chin Co and Tram Ton Passes, as well as notable landmarks like Silver Waterfall (Thác Bạc), Heaven Gate (Cổng Trời), and Fansipan, known as the "Roof of Indochina." Riding your motorbike, you will arrive in Sapa by nightfall. Enjoy dinner, partake in activities of your choice, and stay overnight in Sapa.

From Sapa, you will travel to Lao Cai, then visit Thac Ba Lake. After dinner, you can explore the area and enjoy the local atmosphere.
