Itinerary

This morning, we will kick off our Vietnam dirt bike tour by heading to the Nhat Tan Bridge before turning to follow the Red River dike towards Vinh Phuc province. To enhance the riding experience, we'll prioritize off-road and single-track paths, avoiding national routes crowded with heavy traffic. In the initial 40 km along the Red River, you'll pass through numerous small villages nestled among vast fields and gardens, where buffalo and cow families roam freely. We'll then head towards Thay Pagoda, where you can take a break and snap some great photos.

After lunch, we'll ride through the tea hills inhabited by the H’mong people and explore a few Yao villages before arriving at our guesthouse in Vu Linh. The roads we've traversed are rugged and challenging for any biker. Dinner will be served at a local Yao house, followed by an evening of local activities such as singing, dancing, and learning to play traditional instruments.

Today, we bid farewell to Vu Linh as we embark on the next leg of our 7-day Vietnam dirt bike tour, heading to Mu Cang Chai, a rural district in Yen Bai Province in Northeast Vietnam. The journey to Mu Cang Chai will take us through forests, streams, and slopes composed of slippery mud and rocks. We will be riding on dirt roads for approximately 100 km today, aiming to reach Mu Cang Chai before nightfall.

Today, we will traverse the steep and winding roads from Mu Cang Chai to Sapa. The scenery along the route is stunning, offering numerous opportunities to stop and capture photos to share with your friends on social media.

In the afternoon, as we ascend O Quy Ho Pass at 2000 meters above sea level—the highest pass in Vietnam, connecting Lai Chau and Lao Cai provinces—you'll notice a sudden drop in temperature. After lunch, you'll have the rest of the day to explore Sapa at your own pace.

After breakfast, we bid farewell to Sapa and set off towards Ha Giang via Xin Man and Hoang Su Phi. Xin Man, situated on the border between Vietnam and China, is secluded and enveloped by wild mountains and forests. There is a solitary path connecting Xin Man to Hoang Su Phi, one of the most untouched areas in Ha Giang province.

This region has remained isolated from mainstream society until very recently. As we pass through Hoang Su Phi, you'll be mesmerized by the unspoiled beauty of the wild mountains and the authentic culture of the local peoples, including the Nung, Hoa H’mong, Tay, and Ha Nhuong communities. After lunch, we'll join the main road towards Ha Giang city, where we will spend the night and apply for a permit.

This morning, after obtaining a motorbike tour license for the Ha Giang border area, we set off on challenging yet breathtaking mountain roads leading to Ma Pi Leng Pass. Located between Dong Van and Meo Vac, near the northernmost part of Vietnam, Ma Pi Leng Pass offers an awe-inspiring panorama of winding roads and clouds hugging the mountains.

Just 14 km from Dong Van lies the Vuong Family’s mansion, known as the King of the Hmong people. This destination is a must-visit for any biker. Built in the picturesque Sa Phin valley with Chinese architectural influence, the mansion is constructed entirely of wood and stone, with the stone imported from China. This mansion is a remarkable man-made marvel in the sacred Sa Phin valley. In this remote area, you’ll encounter the hardworking locals. Upon reaching Dong Van town, you’ll have some time to explore the old quarter, known for its centuries-old clay brick houses and tile roofs.

Today's destination is Bac Kan province, situated in the northeastern part of Vietnam, a region seldom visited by tourists. This park is a biologically rich reserve, featuring a large freshwater lake and hosting rare animals and plants.

The Tay people have inhabited the Ba Be area for centuries and make up 58% of the population within the park. An off-road ride will take us to Bac Ngoi village in Ba Be National Park, where you'll find Tay family homes nestled right beside Ba Be Lake. Tonight, we'll stay in a homestay within a Tay stilt house.
